OpenAI Satirical Brand Guidelines

I created a set of satirical brand guidelines for OpenAI by asking the tool itself to generate the content.

This project deliberately rejects the logic of brand guidelines that are used to establish consistency across a visual system. Every page is designed differently, a choice that directly contradicts the foundational purpose of brand systems. There are no consistent color palettes or recurring fonts. Layouts shift wildly from page to page. Instead of clarity and restraint, the designs are bold and at times almost ostentatious. The result feels excessive, unruly, and unstable—qualities that are typically framed as failures within corporate branding contexts.

These satirical brand guidelines operate as a form of discursive design. Rather than offering solutions or alternatives, the project uses humor, excess, and visual dissonance to provoke reflection. Through deliberate inconsistency and the reuse of OpenAI’s own generated content, the work destabilizes the brand internally, revealing branding to be performative rather than inherently truthful. The project does not aim to define what good design is, but instead leaves that question unresolved—intentionally uncomfortable and open-ended.
