Misbehaved is the culmination of my MFA studies in Graphic Design at California College of the Arts.
Abstract:
My thesis plays in the space of commercial visual language decontextualized, stretched and manipulated for humor, critique, and reflection. Iām investigating why advertising looks the way it does, who it serves, and what it normalizes.
I use collage, found and invented image and text layering, misprints, and AI based dialogs to echo, riff, and devolve familiar aesthetics into a world of associations and disassociations.
The result is both familiar and alienating as the images dissolve and reform. Through humor and tension in design, I aim to invite reflection on how we might move beyond ubiquitous unnoticed conventions and challenge them rather than passively accept them.
